Intro to Programming with Processing

Learn the core concepts in computer programming in this introductory coding camp.

Campers will be instructed using Processing, a popular software sketchbook and a language for learning how to code. Using the Processing IDE, campers will learn how to construct simple programs which can draw pictures, write & read files, and respond to input. By the end of the week, we will bring together these introductory concepts to build a simple computer game which campers can share and play. The goal of this camp is to build a foundation of knowledge in Computer Science & Programming.

Game Design Camp with GameMaker

Ages 8-12             July 25-29  //  Aug 22-26

Create games using the engine used for popular games like Five Nights At Freddy’s, Undertale, and Freedom Planet.

We will explore the creation of a video game using GameMaker, a popular and accessible game design software. Campers will learn how to make games like the indie pros from scratch – from concept to storyboard, creation and testing. From there, they will learn how to create characters and add life to their game through interactivity. Finally, we’ll show them how to self-publish their games, to share with their friends and family!

Computer Skills 101 + PC Building Camp

Ages 8-12          Jun 27-Jul 1  //  Aug 15-19

​Basic computer skills are one of most valuable skills a child can learn to have a step up in today's tech-oriented world.

On top of basic skills there are many tips and tricks that can help kids have an easier, better, more interesting and productive experience when using popular computer programs. Throughout the week, campers will not only learn the software but they will experience all that goes into building their own PC. Campers will learn how each major component of a PC works, then how they all come together to make a fully functioning computer!

Intro to Unity Game Engine

Ages 10-14                   July 18-22

Unity is a cross-platform game engine used to develop video games for a variety of platforms.

Campers will become video game creators. They will get a full overview of the engine's key features, and will demonstrate how to create a basic game. More advanced than GameMaker, campers will cover topics including: navigating the user interface, creating a unique project, importing assets (such as 3D models, 2D sprites, audio files), writing scripts in C#, managing game objects, and more to develop and create their own simple 3D game that will run on any modern Windows or Mac platform.

Program Highlights:

  • Useable skills to create on their own within the free Unity Game Engine

3D Modeling w/ Blender  Camp

Ages 10-14             July 11-15  //  Aug 8-12

Learn the basics of modeling, animation, and rendering of 3D graphics. 

Blender is a free, open-source 3D computer graphics software toolset. It is used to create models, animations, visual effects, motion graphics, and digital assets for movies, art, and computer games. Campers will cover topics such as navigating the user interface, using object & edit mode, creating & editing geometry, animating object transformations, rigging lighting, creating and applying materials, exporting models, and rendering images. The goal of this camp program is to develop the essential skills needed to create & render your own digital imagery.

Super Smash Bros. Esports Camp

Ages 8-12             July 25-29  //  Aug 22-26

Learn the ins and outs of how to play as your favorite Smash character from a regional pro!

The Super Smash Bros series is renowned for its iconic Nintendo representation. It is one of the most family-friendly Esports, touting action similar to Warner Bros. In this program, we’ll introduce campers to the competitive aspects of the game, including general and character specific strategy, as well as the history of it’s scene and how competition events work. Not only that, they’ll meet and learn from world-class players and gain insight into what it takes to be a pro. The end of the program will feature an all-student tournament with our full production team for livestream and recording.

FGC (Fighting Game Community) Esports Camp

Ages 10-14                   July 5-8

Campers are going to take a deep dive into how esports works - both its events and how to compete.

We’ll talk about the history of the arcade scene, and its evolution while immersing into the highly competitive, and highly accessible, free-to-play, game Fantasy Strike. After learning all the important tactics like offense, defense, movement, zoning, and managing tilt, students will end the program with a tournament produced and run by our professional esports production team. Campers will leave with the will and knowledge of how to improve (and with some sweet tournament prizes)!

Apex Legends Esports Camp with Aimlab Training

Ages 10-14                   Aug 8-12

Apex Legends is one of the most popular and accessible free-to-play action games. 

In this program, we’ll be teaching general and character-specific game strategies and showing students how to improve their gaming fundamentals through the Aimlab training program. The skills they learn throughout this program can be carried over to any other FPS/TPS PC game. The final day of the program will feature a tournament between all participants, with live production by our team.

Campers express their creativity and learn practical and design skills by creating their very own custom apparel.

Campers will learn the fundamentals of graphic design from concept to creation and renderings. They practice using software and tools to hone their skills and learn the basic most important tools in creating digital art. Campers complement their creativity with the proper technical skills to produce designs for a pair of canvas sneakers that they get to take home!

Streaming and video game commentary has steadily grown in popularity, this program will teach campers how to produce high-quality content that stands out from the crowd.

With accessibility to high quality yet affordable equipment and user-friendly sites like Twitch and YouTube, it’s easier than ever to start your own channel and start generating views. We’ll teach campers about selecting equipment, basics of videography and streaming, lighting, and editing to help them produce high quality content that sets them apart. They’ll even get to do a mock livestream commentary of their own all in a fun, safe, collaborative environment!
